Blog Session 7 How green are you?

Going green has become trendy. Politicians and celebrities are always talking about it, and most companies offer green versions of their products. But what exactly does it mean to go green?
Green living is a way of life in which people make choices that will benefit the environment and seek to do that which is best for the planet, including all the people who live on it. It involves being aware that life on this planet is now interconnected, and every choice we make affects others in ways we can't easily predict.

I took what you've just read from the website above and I'd like to add that teaching children how to be green is a key issue if we want to try to revert part of the damage in this planet...
If you like watching documentaries, I recommend "The 11th hour", it was produced like five years ago by L. DiCaprio, (an example of celebrities involved in green living) and with all the information and scientific data presented, they truly succeed in alarming the population about the ways we need to implement to find more and more environmental solutions. If interested, here's the trailerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IBG2V98IBY

And last but not least, here you can learn about ways to reduce our carbon footprint: http://green.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_reduce_your_carbon_footprint

But now, as usual, please blog about the following:

1. Where do people learn about environmentally friendly practices?
2. Have you incorporated recycling into your habits? Describe
3. Do you use a bike or your legs instead of a car?
4. Have you joined or supported any eco-organisations? Why/Why not?
5. What else have you done /would you like to do?
6. What have you done to reduce your carbon footprint?
7. What's missing in our society/Santiago regarding this issue?

Considering that this is the second blog to last, this is the time to challenge yourselves and write even more than before...  250 words minimum and 280 maximum but if you want to write more, your welcome to do it.
Don't forget to make comments on at least 3 of your classmates posts.

Best of luck,

Belén

Blog Session 6

Dear Class,

Today is the third time -out of four- you'll choose what to blog about. Blog Session 8, will be the last time you have to decide the topic.
Remember to check regular and irregular verbs in the past, if you're not sure, you can check a list with the three columns. If you're to write about something that happened to you last weekend, last week or last year you need the correct conjugation. Also, you can use past continuous. When we are telling stories, we often begin with the action or actions that started first and were in progress (past continuous) when the main actions  happened. Most of the details of the story are then told in the past simple. This is used much more often than the past continuous. Look at these example:

I was staying in the centre of the city and there was a bomb scare. They closed all the roads, so we missed our flight home.
I was talking on the phone when the doorbell rang.

On the other hand, if you'd like to talk about something that could happen, use conditional forms (first, second and/or third one). And if you are writing about the future, you can predict by using future continuous as in: In 2018, people will be watching digital TV and 3D films at home because it's going to be more popular than today.

Hope you can find a topic of your interest to blog about.

Good luck,

Belén
